Laura is a Colombian Biological Engineer and bioinformatician fascinated by the evolutionary relationship between viruses and their hosts. After completing a PhD investigating the selection pressures that shape viral genomes, she joined the PaleovirologyLab as a postdoctoral researcher. Her work explores how viruses have shaped the evolution of life by moving genes across species, driving evolutionary innovation, and prompting hosts to evolve new mechanisms of defence.
