Andrei-Vlad Badelita

Vlad is a DPhil student interested in using bioinformatics and AI to improve virus surveillance. He has a background in computer science and is part of the Interdisciplinary Bioscience Doctoral Training Programme.

His research focuses primarily on swine influenza, and he is co-supervised by Dr Thomas Peacock at the Pirbright Institute. He combines phylogenetics, protein-structure-based modelling, and laboratory assays to study viral evolution and support the early detection of zoonotic outbreaks.
